Helen är forskare vid The Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) och kommer från och med nu att dela sin tid mellan CMES och CEC. På CEC finns hon på våning 2.
Helens arbete gäller hållbarhetsövergångar i Mellanöstern, med särskilt fokus på strategier för miljö- och socialt hållbart samhällsbyggande.
Vid ett krigsslut är det av avgörande betydelse att ta rätt beslut om infrastrukturen för att undvika framtida konflikter och sociala spänningar. I projektet ”Infrastructure choices in post-conflict situations: Opportunities for sustainability and resilience?” (Val av infrastruktur i tidigare konfliktområden: Vägar mot hållbarhet och resiliens?) inom det strategiska forskningsområdet The Middle East in the Contemporary World (MECW) granskas återuppbyggnadsprocessen i Mellanöstern och undersöks hur man ska kunna ta välgrundade beslut om energi, vatten, transportsystem och jordbrukspolitik.
