To further strengthen its strategic profile area Nature-based Future Solutions, Lund University is now announcing a new position as Associate Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science, a position that will be based at the newly formed Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The investment supports cutting-edge research to help tackle environmental and societal challenges.

Nature-based Solutions is a field of research that utilizes nature’s inherent capacity for restoration and resilience. The field has emerged as a tool to address environmental and societal challenges and contributes to supporting biodiversity, mitigating climate change as well as human well-being in general.

– The growing demand across sectors such as agriculture, forestry, urban and infrastructure development reflects an increased recognition of the importance of understanding and utilizing nature’s processes in sustainable development. With this new position, we are taking the next step in building important and long-term expertise in a field that will drive innovation and impact for years to come, says Yann Clough, Assistant Head of Department.

The Nature-based Future Solutions profile area at Lund University works across disciplines and brings together world-leading researchers in biodiversity, climate, economics and social sciences, with a focus on integrating innovative solutions into both research and practice. Examples of nature-based solutions include restoring wetlands, creating green urban environments, or preventing erosion by strengthening coastal protection using nature-based methods.

The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research, Mistra, supports research of strategic importance for a good living environment and sustainable development. Mistra is co-founding the position, as well as one more position at Lund university in Physics (read more via the link below).
