From the management

The current CEC Board has had its last meeting and decided on the Plan of Operations and budget for 2021. The plan will soon be available in Swedish at the link below, and in English after translation.

The process of finalising the new CEC organisation and management for 2021 is still ongoing. This week the Health and Safety Representatives will be informed, followed by negotiations with the employee organisations. After that, in mid to end of December, formal decisions will be taken by CEC and the Faculty of Science. You will be informed about the plans on Friday, 11 December and in the coming newsletters.

On Thursday, 10 December at 9:00 you are most welcome to join online when Sha Ni will defend her thesis in Environmental Science 'Tracing marine hypoxic conditions during warm periods using a microanalytical approach'. The calendar event for Sha Nis defence:

Time reports, Travel Expense reports and Invoices for December 2020
Due to the holidays, the deadline for submitting time reports and receipts for travel expenses in Primula is earlier than usual. Please ensure you submit your reports already now. For payment to be made in December, the deadline is 3rd of December. For payment in January 2021, the deadline is 21 December 2020. If you are submitting a time report including working days December 22-31, please submit it as soon as possible but no later than January 2nd.

If you have employees who submit time reports, it is your responsibility to ensure that they receive the information above.

Invoices in Lupin (Proceedo) must also be processed before 21 December 2020. Invoices that come in after 21 December 2020 must be approved no later than 10 January 2021.

LU Land Breakfast seminar #3: Solar cell parks, land use and biodiversity – 2 December at 8:30. Suggestions on how to achive environmental sustainability in Skåne
The County Administrative Board of Skåne are looking at what measures to take in order for the county to reach the sustainable development goals of Agenda 2030. The Board will finalise their report in February 2021. Suggestions can be submitted until the end of 2020 on the Skånes Miljömål website.

New synthesis on the biophysical influence of land-use and land-cover changes
Wilhelm May and Paul Miller have co-authored a new synthesis which “aims to lay the foundation for an improved understanding of the biophysical influence of land-use and land-cover changes on regional climate and terrestrial ecosystem change in Sweden, and to outline a roadmap for developing tools that support the formulation of policies and decision-making by policymakers”.
