Management information

Last Friday we launched the hybrid version of the Friday Management information and talk, combined with breakfast served in the lunchroom of the 3^rd floor. We are working on finding the best technical solution, so please have patience. Tomorrow we are looking forward to meeting you again. The Management info on Fridays is one of two central channels of internal communication, this newsletter being the other. It is therefore recommended that you join/read, not to miss important information. Also, when planning other events, please try to avoid them overlapping with the time of the Friday Management info and talk.

Next Friday November 26, we make an exception and are instead happy to direct you to Maria Blasi Romero’s doctoral thesis defense in Environmental Science in the Blue Hall in the Ecology building and online, starting at 9:00. There will be no Management information or talk in the lunchroom next Friday, instead we hope you will take the opportunity to listen to Maria.

In December, you have even more possibilities to get together with your colleagues. On 10 December we will hold a traditional Lucia celebration, and 14 December is the date of the CEC Christmas party. The invitation for the Christmas party is attached.

We have now been working for some time in this situation where people are working online or at the office to various extent. To facilitate for each other when trying to get in contact, please follow these general recommendations: be accessible in Teams during working hours, indicate in your outlook calendar if you are busy or not, and indicate on your door when you are back in the office.

We are again experiencing shortage of office space, meaning we solve the immediate needs first, and other requests might have to wait a little longer. If you have concerns, please talk to your line manager.

By the end of this semester, you will have the possibility to discuss your work situation and progress in the yearly follow-up talk with your line manager. The follow up talks are a part of the annual cycle for staff appraisals (utvecklingssamtal), the other steps being staff appraisals and salary-setting appraisals/salary appraisals (lönesättande samtal/lönesamtal). In this follow-up talk you and your line manager has a dialogue about and evaluation of the goals you and your line manager agreed upon in your staff appraisal held this spring, as an input to the coming salary-setting. The talk is also an important measure for the management to keep an eye on the work environment, especially during times of working from home, so please take the opportunity to bring up any issues that you might have in that perspective. Your line manager will give you more information of how and when the talk will be taking place. More information below:

Installation of a projector in the lunchroom on level 3 on 24 November.
During the installation we will not be able to use the lunchroom and the installation might last until the afternoon. Please be prepared to make other arrangements for your lunchbreak.

Fresh fruit
Fruit is now being delivered on a weekly basis, on Tuesdays. You will find the fruit in the C corridor, on level 3 in the Ecology building.

People

William Sidemo Holm will leave CEC at the end of November, after working with ecological-economic modelling in the Constraints project and coordinating a BECC action group. He will be taking up a new position at Agrifood Economics Centre from 1 December to continue his work with ecological-economic modelling as well as his engagement in the Constraints project in collaboration with Mark Brady. In addition to this William will be producing analyses for the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation in relation to agri-environmental policy.

Climathon is a hackathon for climate solution that is organized simultaneously in over 100 city’s all around the world. Climate-KIC@LU organized Climathon in Lund on the 25-29th of October. The 5 day event was a great success with over 50 participants. All most as many experts, staff, jury members, workshop leaders and others helped the participants out in creating the climate solutions of the future.
