Science communication

Within this project a great effort is put on how science is communicated with managers and the public. In 2011 we arranged a one-week course in leadership and communication (in cooperation with The Swedish Institute for the Marine Environment).

Twenty scientists working with questions related to the Baltic Sea were invited and the training was given by COMPASS (Communication Partnership for Science and the Sea) that gives a similar training within the highly prestigious Aldo Leopold Leadership Program in the U.S.

The main theme of this course was how to deliver a clear message. We made podcasts and video clips and performed mock interviews with journalists from Nature, NPR and the BBC and a Swedish freelancing science journalist.
