Hanna Fors

My research

I am a landscape architect and postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science, working in the project Forest Visions. In this transdisciplinary project, we study how production aspects, environmental concerns, climate related risks, climate change, ecosystem service provision and emotional aspects influence Swedish individual private forest owners’ choice of forest management strategy. The aim of the project is to quantify and visualise the contribution of different forest management strategies to climate solutions and fulfilment of environmental objectives during the transition towards a fossil-free society, while addressing trade-offs between different goals as well as policy implications. How do we reach a sustainably managed future forest in Sweden? Results from workshops with forestry stakeholders combined with composite indicators for ecosystem services based on ecosystem modelling will form the basis for novel visualisations of the outcome of different forest management strategies. The results will be presented as scenario-based stories, depicting the structure and functioning of managed forest ecosystems in relation to a range of climate futures.

My background

In 2018, I completed my PhD in Landscape Planning especially Landscape Management at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Alnarp. During my doctoral studies, I studied user participation in public green space management, especially in the transition zones between private residential properties and public urban green spaces. The research focus was users’ drivers for engaging in public urban green space management and how user participation in management affects public green space quality.
