I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Climate Research, where I will investigate multi-stakeholder governance in the development and implementation of nature-based solutions in urban areas. I have a background in architecture and sustainable urban design and a PhD in construction management. My PhD thesis looked at the emerging role of stakeholder participation as an approach to the planning, design and construction of property development projects.
The implementation of nature-based solutions can affect or be affected by a wide range of stakeholders. Thus, nature-based solutions need to take into account the needs and concerns of various stakeholders. For the successful implementation of nature-based solutions (NBS) in cities, a deep understanding of the social processes guiding the decision-making of NBS is needed. Attention should be given to how project proponents and organizations involve a wide range of stakeholders in the decision-making process, particularly on the tools and methods that are used to identify, analyze and engage different stakeholder groups.
