Security of forest-based ecosystem services in the Anthropocene

Join us next Thursday for a seminar with David Edwards from Cambridge University!
As land-use and climate change intensifies, forest biodiversity and ecosystem services are increasingly at risk. I will discuss the severity of these threats and how we can future-proof forest management. I will focus first on the impacts of land-use change on tropical biodiversity across spatial scales, and then identify key pressures of wildfire, land competition and illegal activity to the supply of forest-based products.
Speaker: David Edwards holds the Professorship of Plant Ecology, in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Cambridge, where he is also the founding Director of the Centre for Global Wood Security. https://www.woodsecurity.plantsci.cam.ac.uk
