A pause for menopause in the workplace
Menopause is a natural phase of life, but suffering through it doesn't have to be. There are strategies available to help both individuals and their workplaces thrive during this time.
This presentation is the first of two in the "A Pause for Menopause in the Workplace" testbed project, funded by the Lund University Sustainability Fund. You can learn more about the project on the LU Staff pages (staff.lu.se).
In this initial session, we will explore the physiological changes that occur during perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause, and how hormonal fluctuations can impact a woman's health and well-being well beyond her reproductive cycle.
We aim to clarify common misconceptions about the health risks and benefits associated with various treatment and prevention options. In particular, we will highlight the benefits of resistance training as an effective way to prevent and alleviate many health challenges associated with menopause.
Our next presentation in the project is scheduled for the spring term of 2025. The second session will focus on workplace strategies to support well-being and maintain productivity during the menopause transition, benefiting both yourself and your colleagues.
Presenting will be Åsa Rippe (physiotherapist, Gerdahallen) and Cheryl Sjöström (project manager, CEC).
These events are designed for all staff and affiliates of the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science as well as invited guests. Invited guests include all staff at departments of Biology, INES and Geology.
