Nature-based solutions in cities: whom will they benefit?
Anna Persson ger docentföreläsning
Nature-based Solutions (NbS) builds on sustainable management of urban and rural nature to address societal challenges caused by global changes, aiming to simultaneously enhance human well-being and biodiversity. These dual benefits are, however, not given. There are, for example, potential trade-offs between biodiversity conservation and managing for specific ecosystem services, and the benefits to humans may not become fairly distributed among social segments of society. I will give an overview of the NbS concept and its potential to support a sustainable future, while highlighting some of the risks that the promotion of such a broad concept may entail.
