Monitoring of pollinators - why, where and how?
How are our pollinators doing? Information on status and trends of many species is still lacking, so unfortunately, this question has no clear answer. This in turn complicates the planning och evaluation of measures implemented to benefit pollinators. But a new EU-initiative seeks to remedy this konwledge gap.
Lars Pettersson, docent in animal ecology at Lund University and coordinator for the Swedish Butterfly Monitoring Scheme since its start in 2010, presents the EU-plans for a systematic monitoring of pollinators in the member states, and on-going and future pilot projects that test how this monitoring could be implemented in Sweden.
This seminar is part of the seminar series "How to benefit wild pollinators - what does research say?", co-arranged by the County Administration Scania and Lund University (via the thematic collaboration initiative LU Land, the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science and the Department of Biology).
The aim of this seminar series is to enhance the collaboration between research and society around issues related to wild pollinators and pollination.
The seminars will be held in Swedish, and everyone working with or being interested in wild pollinators or pollination is welcome!
