Bridging Financial and Science Perspectives: A Modelling Approach to Biodiversity Measurement and Management
Abstract
Biodiversity loss, primarily driven by human activities, threatens ecosystems and economic stability. To address this, there is an increasing need to integrate biodiversity into financial and business decisions. My research will focus on developing models to estimate and predict biodiversity impacts and management. In this talk, I will outline the background, motivation, and exploratory questions guiding my research. First, I will cover challenges associated with biodiversity data and measurement for industrial impact disclosure. Second, I will present conceptual and methodological aspects and limitations of Species Distribution Models and how these models can support decision making related to biodiversity. Third, I will make an overview of some frameworks for modelling conservation area prioritization and biodiversity management. Finally, I will cover my preliminary research problem and objectives arising from my first literature review.
