The first national conference within new Nordic network on risk
"There is a lack of a joint forum in Sweden for risk researchers", says Ullrika Sahlin, risk scientist at the Centre of Environmental and Climate Research, who is in charge of the conference, along with political scientist Åsa Knaggård. They have both been working to organize this meeting on the future of risk analysis.
The issue is current, shows a database search. During the past year, the word risk was mentioned at 56,745 different occasions in the Swedish printed press. It is more than three times as many as in the corresponding period of ten years ago. The risk has increased by 224 percent, if you will.
About the conference
This conference is the first event arranged by the Nordic Chapter of SRA Europe (www.sraeurope.org) that was founded in June 2015. The intention of the Nordic Chapter in SRA Europe is to create opportunities for outstanding risk research and to strengthen both risk-informed policy making and risk research in Northern Europe.
Risk is not static and there are multiple ways to deal with and perceive risks. The countries in Northern Europe have been shown to share similar definitions, legislation and challenges with respect to dealing with risks. The Nordic region is here defined as Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
