New book with thoughts on the Swedish Rural Development Programme and rural development with co-authors from CEC

Book cover.

To what use is the Swedish rural programme and what can be done to increase its effects?

The CEC researchers Juliana Dänhardt and Henrik Smith have contributed with two chapters to the newly published book “Så här ligger landet – tankar om landsbygdsprogram och landsbygdsutveckling” (in Swedish). The book has been published by the Swedish Board of Agriculture and consists of short visionary texts by researchers who have been involved in the ex post evaluation of the Swedish rural development program 2007–2013. Based on their well-funded knowledge from the evaluation, the authors have here been able to write more freely about ideas for the future.

The two chapters that Juliana and Henrik have written are based on experiences and conclusions from their work with the ex post evaluation of environmental and climate measures in the Swedish rural development programme 2007–2013. In their two chapters, they contribute in an easily read manner with their thoughts on how to improve the programme so that the financial resources spent annually are used more efficiently to benefit biodiversity and ecosystem services.
